of birth of one of your parents or grandparents. You will find out where your ancestors were living over 100 years ago in the
1911 and 1901 census, who they were living with and what their occupations were (if any).

Please note
when comparing family tree research packages, I always obtain
civil registration birth and marriage certificates to prove your ancestry*
(as far as they are available) and do not rely on census entries or indexes
alone. The number of certificates included in the cost of our fixed-priced
family tree packages is shown.
Certificates are vital in compiling an accurate family history;
I have seen many online family trees that I have personally
researched, where it is obvious that the owner has not obtained the relevant certificates and they
have made incorrect assumptions. This means that they are researching the
wrong family!
As a general guide, each person researched (post 1837)
will need a birth certificate to verify their parents’ names; and each
married couple will need a marriage certificate detailing their father’s
names (or not, in the case of illegitimate children).
Although it
may be possible to take an educated guess in matching up parents or spouses,
it really does make sense to purchase certificates and avoid barking up the
wrong tree!
*Death certificates are not generally included in research
packages as they are not strictly necessary to prove ancestry. Sometimes
they are useful in order to establish a date of birth. In some circumstances
it may prove necessary to purchase additional certificates at extra cost.
Please note success can depend on what information is available, how
common a surname is, whether events were registered and, of course, whether
the records have survived.
